📍 Travel Ideas for Families with Kids - Arizona + San Diego 🌴
When it comes to family travel destinations, Arizona and San Diego have soared their way into our top 5 list. Before I get into the details about this trip, I want to share some quick packing tips for all of my fellow traveling moms. This was the longest road trip we have ever gone on, from Houston, TX, to Arizona, and our last stop was San Diego.
Goodness! What a hot long trip it was.
This road trip took much patience, endurance, and frequent bathroom breaks. Normally my husband does the planning for the trip ahead of time. He plans out all the activities and researches our destination in advance to find kid-friendly activities, attractions, and accommodations. We also leave space for flexibility for spontaneous adventures like driving around the neighborhoods, which I love to do. I take the role of packing all of the children’s items, and unfortunately, I am not a light packer, lol, but Im working on it.
How I Pack For Road Trips
I hate forgetting things, so most times, I rather over-pack than under-pack, but I am learning to find a healthy balance. These are some of the things I have on my packing list, essentials like pull-ups, wipes, extra clothing, snacks, entertainment (books, toys, tablets), medications, and any specific items our children need. I will be sharing more packing tips in my future blogs, but for now, let’s get into this trip!
Let me tell you, these places stole our hearts! I fell head over heels in love! Yes, it was hot, and I admit, a part of me wished we could have flown instead of enduring a road trip. But as soon as we reached our destinations, I was captivated in ways I never expected, and my boys were overjoyed! Arizona's Refreshing Air and Lego Land Delight
Upon arrival in Arizona, the first thing that caught my attention was the air quality. The air felt so crisp and clean, a refreshing change from the city of Houston. But let's get to the fun part! We treated our boys to an unforgettable adventure at Lego Land, and it was their first time experiencing it. They absolutely loved every moment!
San Diego's Coastal Charms and Captivating Attractions
The following day, we embarked on a scenic drive to San Diego, and oh my, I was instantly smitten! The weather was perfect, and our hotel's location near the beach and park couldn't have been more ideal. It was like a dream come true. Our family explored the USS Midway Museum, which offered a glimpse into history, followed by an exciting visit to the San Diego Zoo. And of course, we couldn't resist spending some quality time at the beautiful beach.
Arizona and San Diego truly surpassed our expectations as family travel destinations. From the refreshing air of Arizona to the enchanting world of Lego Land, and from the coastal charms of San Diego to the captivating attractions like the USS Midway Museum and the San Diego Zoo, every moment was filled with wonder and excitement. Although our time felt fleeting, the memories we created will endure, reminding us of the joy and togetherness we experienced.
