Homeschool Cooking Class Adventure: Baking Gingerbread Men and Crafting Clay Snowmen

Today was a fun day in our homeschool cooking class, filled with the warm scents of ginger and sweet treats. We created a large gingerbread man, we also tried some really delicious gingerbread cookies from Trader Joe's, and we did a fun, hands-on craft activity: painting clay snowmen.

The gingerbread man baking session

The gingerbread man baking session was exciting. We purchased the baking mix from Trader Joes and the baking tin from HEB. The children were so excited to pour the dough into the gingerbread man tin. As it baked, the kitchen was filled with the aroma of ginger and spices, setting a festive mood.

While the gingerbread man was cooling down, we treated ourselves to some gingerbread cookies from Trader Joe's. These cookies were a great addition, with a sweet and flavor profile that complemented our homemade creation. The kids enjoyed eating the gingerbread cookies and gingerbread cake. We would definitely purchase this again.

The Painted Clay Snowman Activity

All you need for this fun holiday craft are some basic supplies: white washable paint, washable paint, toothpicks, and pompoms. Each child was given a lump of clay, they molded their snowmen, adding little details to personalize them. Once the snowmen were shaped, we moved on to painting them. This was an opportunity for the children to express their creativity, choosing colors and designs to bring their snowmen to life.

Reflecting on the day

Our homeschool cooking class was more than just about cooking; it was about learning, creating, and enjoying the process. Days like these are cherished, as they bring joy and a sense of accomplishment to the children, making learning an enjoyable and memorable experience. Creating our clay snowmen was fun and educational, as it helped develop their fine motor skills and artistic senses.
