Stay-at-Home Mom Summer Schedule Breakdown: Balancing Fun and Productivity
Hey ladies! As the summer vacation is coming to a close for us, I wanted to take a moment to share my schedule breakdown, what worked for our family, and the sources I used. If you have energetic boys like me (three boys if you don’t already know), you know the importance of structure and engaging activities to keep them busy and entertained. So, here's a glimpse into our summer schedule that combines learning and fun!
I created an every-other-day schedule, allowing for flexibility and spontaneous adventures on alternate days. These open days were perfect for outdoor activities, trips to the museum, or just enjoying some quality family time. I used the google calendar.
Morning Routine
Our daily routine usually starts around 9:30 AM, with outdoor time for about 30-40 minutes. It's a great way to let the boys burn off some energy and enjoy the fresh air after breakfast. After that, we dive into Spanish learning around 10:15 AM. Learning a new language is not only educational but also a fun and enriching experience for children.
Structured Learning Time
At 10:45 AM, it's computer time! We use education.com, a fantastic website that offers a plethora of summer activities, gym ideas, and printable worksheets for various subjects like math, English, and writing. The site is loaded with educational resources to keep your little ones engaged and entertained throughout the summer.
Around 12-12:30 PM, we take a break for lunch. Sometimes, if we didn't get to complete our computer time earlier, we do it after lunch. Flexibility is key, and it's important to adjust the schedule based on your family's needs.
After lunch, we use the time to work on any weak areas that the boys may have struggled with during the school semester. It's an opportunity for them to reinforce their knowledge and improve in specific subjects. This focused learning time usually lasts until around 1:30-2 PM.
Next up is art! From 2 to 2:30 PM, we explore our creative side and engage in various artistic activities. Whether it's painting, drawing, or crafting, art allows children to express themselves and develop their imagination.
Personal Development
Following the art session, we have a dance workout or workout session from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. It's a fun and active way to get the kids moving, grooving, and enjoying some exercise. Dancing not only keeps them physically fit but also brings joy and laughter into our summer days.
Finally, from 3:00 to 3:30 PM, we have free time. This can be either indoor or outdoor play, depending on the weather and the boys' preferences. Free time allows them to unwind, explore their interests, and enjoy unstructured play.
Every child is different
It's important to remember that every child is different, so this schedule is meant to serve as inspiration. Feel free to modify and adjust it to suit your family's needs and the unique interests of your children. The key is to find a balance between structured learning and enjoyable activities that keep them engaged and excited throughout the summer break.
During the planning process, I found it helpful to research various online resources, such as education.com, that offer a wide range of educational materials and activity ideas. Additionally, don't hesitate to explore local community resources, museums, libraries, and parks for summer programs or events that align with your children's interests.
As the summer vacation draws to a close, I hope our schedule breakdown and sources inspire you to create a fun and educational summer experience for your family. Enjoy these last days of sunshine and create beautiful memories with your loved ones!
Cheers to a fantastic summer! 🥂
